Let’s work together
“Kate has helped me untangle some complicated feelings I had towards my finances. She also gave me the tools I needed to learn how to feel more comfortable working with my money. I now feel like I'm in charge of my financial life... The work that we did together was invaluable to me and I cannot recommend working with Kate enough if you have any kind of issue with your money, budget, etc.”

What is Financial Social Work?
Financial social work is a process informed by both financial knowledge and therapeutic competencies that works to to help people feel, think, and behave differently with money in order to improve overall wellbeing.
When we work together, I will focus on understanding your current financial circumstances and how they relate to your goals for the future, healing your relationship with money and addressing emotional issues that drive financial behaviors. We will also work on developing skills to support change, manage financial and other life stressors, and work on building the confidence and self awareness needed to manage your financial life.
How does it work?
Our work together will be solution-focused and short term. We will work collaboratively over the course of several sessions to address a specific problem, goal, or decision. My approach is based on a cognitive behavioral model, and influenced by coaching techniques. My goal is for you to leave each session with results, but you will also have action plans to complete between sessions that will keep you focused on change and practicing new behaviors.
Meetings will be held over a secure video conferencing system.
Is this for me?
For years, personal finance advice has centered on information - if you know better, you do better - right? Well, not necessarily. If that were true, everyone who has ever follwed a personal finance account on Instagram or read a self help book on the subject would be in complete control of their finances.
In practice, financial health is as much about the outer work of learning about budgeting, saving, and investing as it is about the inner work of conquering the attitudes, feelings, and beliefs about money that are keeping us back.
